DBEDT

The Department of Business, Economic Development Tourism is Hawai’i's resource center for economic and statistical data, business development opportunities, energy and conservation information, and foreign trade advantages. DBEDT provides the economic and statistical expertise that guides State economic development efforts. It generates important information for business and industry about their markets and the economic forces shaping the future. DBEDT, through its Research Economic Analysis Division (READ), also runs the State’s visitor statistics program, which develops and distributes information on the roughly 7 million tourist and business visitors who come to the islands annually.

Enterprise Honolulu

Enterprise Honolulu (EH), the Oahu Economic Development Board, is a not for profit corporation whose efforts support a diversified economy on O’ahu. We are a leading agent in the growth, retention and recruitment of businesses that offer quality jobs in Hawai’i and we are actively involved in infrastructure, planning and workforce development to build the foundation for a globally competitive, sustainable economy.

EPSCOR

Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) is a joint effort of the National Science Foundation and 24 U.S. states and territories, which promotes scientific research to improve state competitiveness. EPSCoR’s goal is to maximize a state’s science and technology resources to stimulate economic growth. Services mainly seed stage companies.

Hawaii Angels

The Hawaii Angels group is a network for private Angel Investors of Hawaii that share their ideas and investment opportunities with one another. University of Hawaii professor Dr. Robert Robinson provides a forum to bring potential investors together with entrepreneurs, as an extension of the university’s educational mission. The forum provides an opportunity for members to listen to entrepreneurial presentations and share their opinions about specific investment opportunities. UH Hawaii Angels membership is exclusively for qualified investors. Hawaii Angels now has chapters on Maui and the Big Island, as well as the main chapter on Oahu.

HiBEAM

HiBEAM’s mission is to help launch and build promising early stage Hawaii technology, biotechnology and life sciences companies by providing expert professional advice and access to funding sources.

Hogan Program (Chaminade University)

The Hogan Entrepreneurial Program is a one or two year program, open to students of all majors who are juniors, seniors, or in a graduate program at Chaminade. The program prepares highly motivated students for entrepreneurial careers, and focuses on four major areas: the development of tools, the sharpening of skills, intense exposure to the entrepreneur, and service to the community. Services: The Hogan Entrepreneurial Program offers an innovative curriculum, dynamic skill-building workshops, an Entrepreneurial and Leadership Speaker Series, access to business and community leaders, entrepreneurial coaching, internships, and networking opportunities.

HPU Entrepreneurship Center

The HPU Entrepreneurship Center’s mission is to promote the learning and development of entrepreneurial spirit for students of HPU and the community of Oahu. Creating a support system for entrepreneurs seeking to add and claim value for business and social enterprises.

Hawaii Strategic Development Corporation (HSDC)

Hawaii Strategic Development Corporation (HSDC) is a State agency created in 1990 to promote economic development and diversification in conjunction with private enterprise. Emphasis is given to investment opportunities which further technological innovation, though almost all industry sectors are eligible for financing.

Hawaii Science and Technology Council (HISciTech)

The Hawaii Science & Technology Council is a Hawaii industry association serving Hawaii companies engaged in life sciences, information and communication technology, energy and sustainable technologies, defense and dual-use companies and film and digital media through a statewide public and private sector network.

High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC)

HTDC core initiatives include: To develop and manage a statewide network of incubation services and facilities that provide new technology businesses with access to business development services, strategic partnerships, networking and marketing opportunities, shared support services, and business mentoring.

Hawaii Technology Development Venture (HTDV)

HTDV focuses on defense and dual use sector. It is a project of the Pacific International Center For High Technology Research (PICHTR) and funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) that utilizes the capabilities of Hawaii-based small businesses in performing high technology efforts related to current and future Department of Navy and Department of Defense programs.

Hawaii Renewable Energy Development Venture (HREDV)

Hawaii’s energy sector is transforming from oil to clean energy, creating a growing market opportunity.  The mission of Hawaii Renewable Energy Development Venture (HREDV) is to help Hawaii businesses commercialize their renewable energy and efficiency innovations to solve Hawaii’s energy challenges.  HREDV is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Small Business Development Center Network (SBDC)

The Office of Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provides management assistance to current and prospective small business owners. SBDCs offer one-stop assistance to individuals and small businesses by providing a wide variety of information and guidance in central and easily accessible branch locations. The program is a cooperative effort of the private sector, the educational community and federal, state and local governments and is an integral component of Entrepreneurial Development’s network of training and counseling services.

Service Corps Of Retired Executives (SCORE)

SCORE Hawaii is a non-profit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and formation, growth and success of small business in Hawaii. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Hawaii local office opened 34 years ago. The organization provides counseling services face-to-face, counseling by phone, and online counseling. The services are free and include marketing, planning, financing, printed materials.

UH PACE – Shidler College of Business

Founded in 2000, the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) is the home for an integrated set of entrepreneurship programs at the University of Hawaii.  Based in the Shidler College of Business, PACE is dedicated to fostering the entrepreneurial spirit among all members of the University and the local community. UH Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development (OTTED)

The Office of Technology Transfer Economic Development (OTTED) is a service-oriented center organized for the purpose of helping UH faculty, staff, and students identify, protect, and commercialize the University’s intellectual property assets so that they can benefit society and spur economic growth for our State and national economies. OTTED works mainly with seed stage companies. OTTED participates in the SCOB Business Plan Competition by awarding monetary prizes to winning business plans that have used OTTED technology. Showcases new technologies.

UH Pacific Business Center Program

The UH Pacific Business Center Program (PBCP) works with private businesses, government agencies and community development organizations to enhance economic diversification and develop new opportunities for businesses.
